February/March Newsletter

Spring is finally here and we can’t wait for the warm weather! The months of February and March have been busy and exciting for the sisters of Alpha Xi Delta.

We kicked off our February with a Greek Shabbat dinner at the Chabad house. A group of our sisters participated in a Shabbat service and feast. They enjoyed being immersed in Jewish culture for the night, along with the rest of greek life.

We also participated in Valentines for Veterans, which is where a few of our sisters decorated beautiful and heartfelt Valentines day cards that were sent to Veterans. Valentine's day was super exciting for us because we had a Secret Valentines day swap! Each sister was secretly assigned another sister to put together a Valentine where we exchanged gifts at chapter! The swap was full of love and gratefulness for one another. We also took our composite pictures and put together the new composite! The background is light blue with each sister draped in black. We’re so happy with how it turned out. That wraps it up for February- it was definitely exciting but not as exciting as March!

March began with Delta Zeta’s new philanthropy event- The greekly wed game. This is where greek life couples were asked to answer questions about one another to ultimately win the title of Greekly weds! We were so happy to see our sister Kim participate with her boyfriend, Tony. They did an amazing job!

We also put on our FIRST EVER Xi Bachelor event! We had a group of guys from greek life and sports teams fight for our bachelorette by answering fun and clever questions. Our sister, Julia Cook (Philanthropy VP), did an amazing job making sure the entire event ran smoothly. Also a huge shoutout to our sisters Jasmine Coyle and Lynette Perez for hosting and being a part of the event. It wouldn’t have been as awesome as it was without them! It was a huge hit and we can’t wait to do it again next year!

On the same day as Xi Bachelor, the most exciting thing for the month of March began! Big/Little! Big/Little week was filled with 4 exciting days of flowers, baskets, room decorations and reveal! Our bigs and littles were so excited to finally be together! We were happy to welcome back so many alumni that attended reveal to meet their littlest!

Over Spring break, many of our sisters went to cool and exciting places! Our sister, Shayla Mattessen, participated in Uhart's Alternative Spring break where she spent the week at Kure Beach in North Carolina helping to restore houses that had been damaged in Hurricane Florence. Two of our sisters, Holly Critchley and AnnaRose Savino went abroad to Italy together! They traveled around Italy exploring new foods, sights, and people. They had so much fun! Also, a large group of our sisters traveled to Punta Cana for the week and had an amazing time! Nobody wanted to come back home!

To end the month of March we will be having a joint event with Theta Chi for the second year in a row! We host a huge volleyball tournament with the entirety of Greek life- Everyone has so much fun!

These past two months have been thrilling and full of love for our sisters. We can’t wait to see what the rest of spring semester has in store for us!
